“You will understand right away there is a problem, an inherited problem with this religion against Jews and Christians.” - Brother Rachid on Islam
Here’s a short clip with Brother Rachid from my recent podcast episode with him:
"Islam as a worldview is an anti-Christian, anti-Western, anti-Jewish, religion.
Why? Because it was built on contradicting the Jews and the Christians around Muhammad.
It was built that way, the whole frame.
It doesn't talk about, for example, Buddhism, Hinduism, or any other worldviews.
I don't see it clearly talking about Atheism.
And so it talks about people who resisted the message of Muhammad.
And the main ones there that had the power and authority- they knew the books, they knew the scripture- they were Jews and Christians.
So the whole doctrine is built against THEM.
And that's why you find in the Quran, many times they mention Jews and Christians.
Many times they reply to their questions, and the stories behind those verses.
You will understand how Muhammad struggled to prove himself as a prophet with those. And that's why he had so much hatred for them.
And that's why he built his whole religion based on hatred.
Let me give you, for example, one verse from the Quran.
"Do not take Jews and Christians as friends."
This is a verse in the Quran.
So when you read something like that, as explicit as that, 'do not take Jews and Christians' in general; it doesn't specify a group, like evil ones, like the ones who are evil to Muhammad, the ones who are trying to harm him... No.
Jews and Christians, as simple as that.
And you find these verses quoted by all Islamic groups through history.
You will understand right away there is a problem, an inherited problem with this religion against Jews and Christians." - Brother Rachid

This piece challenged me more than any other of your pieces. I have close friendships with devout Muslims and have had many conversations drawing parallels between Jewish and Islamic philosophies and spirituality. I see a major problem among Jewish and Muslim people who interpret scriptures literally rather psychologically or spiritually, and these interpretations justify heinous behaviour and violence. I'll keep thinking about this interview for a while. Thank you for all your work to illuminate extremism hidden in plain sight.
Brother Rachid is a brave speaker of truth. Thanks for sharing his great work!
