Violence and Reason

Do not expect irrational, illiberal Anti-Western forces or regimes to share the same values as the West.

My son and my husband were playing, and he poked his dad in the eye.

I explained to him that we don’t hit or hurt people on purpose. When he’s older, he will learn that we only use force in self-defence.

He went to see his dad and gave him a kiss on his eye.

Violence is part of the human makeup. We learn from a young age that these kind of impulses are human, but must be kept in check. Violent impulses diminish when we learn how to reason.

Values, ethics, morals and reason are what shapes our behaviour, and then, the kind of society we live in.

Western societies evolved with these types of principles at the forefront. Whenever those principles are eroded, we see a return to rising violence. When they are totally abandoned, such as during the irrational politico-religious mass movements like Communism, Fascism, National Socialism, we see violence reach a fever pitch.

To initiate force is Anti-Western and illiberal for reasons beyond even values, ethics and morals — it defies our reason. It is irrational, just like the National Socialist mass movement was irrational. Mass movements are predicated on their irrationality and always lead to mass violence.

The Woke-Jihadist coalition is based on this shared illiberalism and irrationality. One is anti-Western, rejecting all of its premises by deconstructing it and leaving it in pieces on the ground. The other is anti-Western in its refusal to peacefully coexist with it, in its dogmatic refusal of its premises, and perhaps most of all because of its fragile inferiority-superiority complex.

Both ideologies are based on fragments of inconsistent premises that only make sense if you abandon all reason. They are martyr-victim ideologies, and pathological victimhood belongs to the realm of the warped, the backwards, the chaotic, the irrational.

Do not expect irrational, illiberal Anti-Western forces or regimes to share the same values as the West. When your ideological doctrine works against man’s natural inclination to reason, you create a society of nihilists who deny their human potential and just seek to destroy that which they secretly wish to be.
