For the past few years— since 2020 really— we have been exploring different options for countries we could relocate to and/or collect residencies. This is known in some circles as being ‘digital nomads’ or ‘expats’.
This trend has become popular among classical liberals and libertarians. It is the idea that you should “go where you’re treated best” (Nomad Capitalist), or have options for better living as Western Countries decline economically, socially and culturally.
My husband and I spent decades travelling the world in our aviation careers, and as such, we have a unique perspective of being abroad, and the intimate knowledge that the world has so many awesome places to discover. The country you are born in will always be your original home, but you can find a home outside of your country as well.
Or, as Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros romantically puts it, “Home is wherever I’m with you.”
We decided to take the giant leap from Canada to Mexico. We chose to live in the state of Puebla, in Central Mexico, because of its climate, culture, values, vibe, and European influence, as described in the video above.
We started this newsletter, YouTube channel and Instagram to document our experiences, and to share our insights and insider scoop on Mexican living. We want to illustrate a different side of Mexico than popular touristic destinations; a more authentic look at what this country is really like, seen through the eyes of foreigners adjusting to our new landscape.
Whether you are a fellow traveller, digital nomad, or simply curious, you can subscribe to this stack for free to come on this journey with us. If you plan on travelling to Central Mexico in the future, this newsletter will feature insider tips, hotel & restaurant recommendations, spots to visit, and tons of practical information you will need.
If you are ready for change, but don’t necessarily know where to begin, consider booking a free one-on-one session with me to jumpstart your personal growth.
We also specialize in custom trips to Puebla. As a former flight attendant/pilot duo, we will help you organize your itinerary from flights, buses, Ubers, AirBnbs to local hot spots such as restaurants, cafes, coworking spaces, and more, based on your unique needs.
We can also help answer questions about and facilitate your Mexican visas & residency.
