Open Letter to Health Units, Politicians, Policy Makers & Medical Practitioners in Regards to the Institutionalized Abuses of Pregnant Women and Newborns in the Name of Covid-19
I don’t even have words to respond to your piece. I recall how heartbroken I felt back in the height of voodoo medicine (great term by the way)…especially as it was used against pregnant women and children….and in reading this I felt that same heartbreak. What shocks me is how the majority never had a problem with it then or now.
Unforgivable. No one can plausibly claim to care about women who stood silently by while this went on. There were measures still in place when the dangers of covid were well understood and had dissipated. Even masking pregnant women exacerbated nausea and inhibited breathing. Separating mothers and newborns immediately after birth is a cause of long-term trauma. A profound lack of sensitivity to the unique vulnerabilities of women. Hard to think of a clearer way to show how little a person cares about women’s reproductive health than these inhumane covid policies. Having to give birth alone. Being pushed to vaccinate even if it seemed like a dangerous unknown for a fetus. The way that babies were not particularly susceptible to covid. All of it.
