Everything will be better once my favorite politician gets into power
Thoughts on the Progress of Establishment Conservatives & the Policy Problem
A video is gaining some traction on social media featuring Pierre Poilievre, the leader of the Canadian Conservative Party (CCP), and his quite entertaining antics in the otherwise sad circus commonly known as the Canadian Parliament.
(Don’t worry, this isn’t a post about Canadian politics).
Pierre got pretty naughty during the parliamentary session, where language is tightly controlled and freedom of speech does not exist, for saying, “WTF”.
Pierre was roasting Trudeau’s Illiberal government about their mis-management of the infamous ArrivanCan app, which was used by the Canadian Border Agents-turned-political-enforcers and big Pharma reps, to discriminate against people at the border based on their political opinion and health choices. It was used at a time when the Illiberals were forcing medical experiments on as many people as they possibly could. Impeding and restricting the movement of people at the border was one of the means to their end. It was an authoritarian “show me your papers” scheme that would have made Walter Ulbricht blush in envy.
After nearly a decade of the Trudeau Woke Techno-Theocraticregime, many Canadians are at long last getting ready for a change.
Pierre’s profile is rising as a result.
But here’s the problem with Poilievre’s position on the restrictions at the Canadian border: he is criticizing how the policy was implemented, not the policy itself.
Not unlike Trump, who’s proudly defending how he implemented his disgraceful policies like lockdowns, Operation Warp Speed, inflationary money printing, protectionism and rapid expansion of the administrative state size and power; never questioning the legitimacy of his harmful policies.
Poilievre, unfortunately, supported the lockdowns and forced medical experiments throughout the pandemic hysteria era. Like most of the Canadian Conservative gaggle, he was at best a no show during one of the darkest times in Canadian history.
But as the winds of change became apparent, with a very large “fringe minority” coming to support the Trucker’s Convoy, Pierre finally showed up— for the photo op— two years later.
It’s easy to criticize the failed implementation of these draconian policies years later, but it takes courage and a solid, principled intellectual framework to address the issue in real time: the policy itself.
This is exactly why Conservatives (and not just in Canada) consistently miss the target. The only thing Conservatives end up conserving is the “progress” towards more authoritarian government control implemented by the preceding Progressive government.
That’s why courageous politicians who are willing to unwind decades of disastrous policies, like Javier Milei in Argentina, are so impressive.
And a rare breed.
Pierre is no Milei.
He’s an establishment Conservative who became staffer in Ottawa at a very young age, before being elected as a Member of Parliament at 25 years old. He’s a rank and file member of the Canadian establishment who’s never been a productive member of society, always receiving a paycheck from taxpayers, one way or another. He has no relevant life experience outside of the Laurentian elite; also known as the Canadian swamp.
In other words, bickering about policies is Pierre’s expertise.
His performance in the Canadian parliamentary circus is certainly entertaining, especially for those who indulge in tribal politics; for those who see anyone ostensibly fighting against those they hate as a win.
With his surface level criticisms of how the ArriveCan policy was implemented, what Pierre is really saying here is this: “If I had been in power, the ArriveCan app would have worked flawlessly, I would have delivered it on time, and at a much lower cost.”
If only he had wielded the ring of power, he would have made the trains run on time.
It’s also worth noting that Pierre is a staunch monarchist. The loyalists are the philosophical heirs of those who hated freedom so much that they chose to move out of the newly founded United States of America, to settle in British occupied Canada.
Due to a harsh winter and an actual pandemic, George Washington’s army unfortunately failed in its attempt at cancelling the British occupation during the winter of 1775-1776.
Pierre’s very first words after winning the leadership race of the CCP were to pledge allegiance to a malthusian globalist, Charles III, His Majesty the King of the United Kingdom and the 14 other Commonwealth realms, and Supreme Governor of the Woke Church of England.
(Yes, it’s his actual title.)
There seems to be a pattern of Western leaders submitting to the interests of foreign entities.
But I digress…
Conservative politicians have systematically let down their constituencies throughout the West in recent decades. This is especially true since the neo-Marxist United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030 agenda (UN SDGs) was adopted circa 2015 by governments throughout the world, many of them ostensibly led by Conservatives.
The UN SDGs were rebranded as the infamous Great Reset in June of 2020, shortly after the UN signed a strategic partnership with the WEF a year prior, to accelerate the implementation of the SDGs. Many people who are obsessed with the WEF miss the bigger, and much more dangerous picture. It’s not just a WEF agenda, it’s the agenda of the United Nations, adopted by our own governments. The WEF is just there to help make it happen faster.
A recent example of the acceleration of the UN SDGs agenda is the new policy of the Canadian Federal Government to stop building new roads to “Discourage Private Vehicle Use”.
Purposefully disrupting air travel via the ArriveCan app and border closures to reduce CO2 emissions, was another.
In Canada, it was another Conservative globalist monarchist, Stephen Harper, who committed Canada to the SDGs/Great Reset by signing the agreement in 2015.
“The SDGs were affirmed under the Harper government, and now they're being pursued under the Trudeau government. The Harper government signed on in September 2015, and now in the fall of 2017, the new prime minister was at the general assembly saying these goals are just as important to us at home as they are abroad.” - Tim Alamenciak, TVO Today
The last few years of tyranny in Canada were mainly Trudeau zealously implementing the agenda of the previous “Conservative” Harper government, much like Biden’s tyrannical and inflationary policies were in large part the continuation of Trump’s policies.
Other establishment Conservatives who likewise betrayed their countries in the last decade range from Trump in the US, to Netanyahu in Israel, to Bojo/Sunak in the UK, to Scott Morrison in Australian, Angela Merkel in Germany and so many others.
Politics can certainly be an entertaining sport to watch. But placing hope in cowardly mid-wits to come and save you is a poor way to invest time and energy. In the recent past, many Americans placed their hopes in two consecutive “saviors”, Obama and Trump, both of whom executed disastrous policies that led to a massive expansion of the administrative state, and persistent inflation.
In constant 2021 dollars, for instance, the Federal budget grew by $366 billion per annum on the Donald’s watch, a level 4.3X higher than the big spending years of Barrack Obama, and nearly 11X higher than the 1992-2000 period under Bill Clinton.
For most, the return on investing time and hope in politics is generally negative, unless, of course, you’re one of the cronies who “invested” in the right politician.
But there are a few ways of insulating yourself somewhat from these policies. Here’s two that I have personally implemented.
One thing about Pierre Poilievre that could give some cautious optimism is that he seems to understand the importance of Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a way to escape the harmful inflationary policies that subsequent governments, Conservatives and Illiberals alike, have implemented. In Canada I use Bull Bitcoin to stack up as often as I can.
Another way to protect your family from these harmful policies, is to seek residency in a country outside of the self-sabotaging West, as a plan B (or A). I recently acquired a Mexican residency for that reason (and more). The Mexico Relocation Guide by the Mexican-American solopreneur Marianna Lange has been extremely helpful. It gives access to a long list of contacts and elaborate explanations of everything you need to know to get your Mexican residency and eventually settle in this amazing, growing, NON-WOKE country. It also gives you access to a very active & helpful online community. The only thing I regret about this guide is not buying it earlier. It would have saved me time and money.
His Majesty’s loyal opposition
Those placing high hopes in Pierre Poilievre to be their savior would do well to keep him accountable at every turn, unlike the MAGA faithful who keep fawning over their savior despite his disastrous tenure.
Trump Made the Administrative State Great Again (MASGA).
Those believers looking to be saved by a political messiah would do well to review the first four laws of political dynamics:
1: Whatever you do, don’t hurt people & don’t take their stuff.*
2: Whatever the government touches turns to shit.
3: The less government touches things, the less shitty a society gets.
4: If tempted to implement a policy to solve a perceived issue, see rule #1 & #2
*(except in self-defense).
Indeed, Pierre Poilievre might get it somewhat right on certain topics. He would most likely be a less authoritarian leader than Trudeau, and certainly a better choice between the two. But he is part of the machine; a cog in the administrative state, and therefore he doesn’t really get it.
As Bruce Pardy aptly described in his masterful critique of the nanny state, Anatomy of the Administrative State,
“Paradoxically, criticizing the state’s policies legitimizes its control. Alleging that lockdowns are bad because they cause harm implies that they are good if they work. Challenging vaccine mandates because vaccines are dangerous attacks the vaccines, not the mandates. If policies are bad only because they don’t work, they are good when they do…With few exceptions, the problem is not the content of policy but its very existence.”
Javier Milei, who I believe has no equal in modern politics, really gets it. His ongoing deep cleaning of 80+ years of devastating collectivist policies in Argentina is precisely what needs to be done. But it will take years, decades maybe, to bear fruits, and the transition will be bumpy. Hopefully Milei has enough political capital to stay the course in his attempt to destroy the ring of power.
When Pierre criticizes the failure of the ArriveCan app, he legitimizes the use of such an app in public policy. He legitimizes the use of force to impose the administrative state’s whims onto the public.
Pierre is no Javier.
Boromir, the fictional character in Lord of the Rings, joined the fellowship to destroy the Ring of Power, but ended up being tempted to use it for ‘good’.
Poilievre doesn’t even mention destroying the ring; he only claims to want to use it for ‘good’.
We should not be looking for saviors in those who want to wield the power of the administrative state for ‘good’; we should be figuring out ways to lessen the grip of control in our individual lives, because nobody is coming to save us.
Except, of course, Admiral Levine, M.D.

“Don’t hurt people and don’t take their stuff.” is a great catchphrase summarizing the non-aggression principle used by Matt Kibbe as the title of his book, a libertarian manifesto.
That was very opinionated . . . and very good. So true to make the distinction between switching parties for a new flavor and genuine change. I saved this and will be sending it along when I hear Polievre supporters proclaim it will be different. The Epoch Times for example who call out the CCP but won't name the WEF as the power behind Canada's takeover. And Polievre showed up at the Trucker Convoy but was silent when Randy Hillier was taken out. You're doing great Kate; thanks for your work.
After seeing what the fascist technocratic state did to the truckers and living in fear of my bank accounts being frozen for donating, my husband and I began our Plan B planning. We are now permanent residents of Mexico, have bought a home here, and are spending the winter here. My daughter, who was visiting last week, said after one day, "The people seem happier here, particularly the children." That has been my observation as well and so it was interesting to hear her say this after a mere one day here. Multi-generational families gather in the square, there's music and celebrations frequently, and nobody is pulling down statues, desecrating places of worship, or engaging in the self-hatred that is destroying the West.
We're not ready to give up completely on Canada yet as we have financial ties that complicate a permanent move here and family ties, but I'm glad to have somewhere else to go. Mexico is the easiest and least expensive residency to get so I encourage others to do what we've done. You don't have to buy a home here or even spend a certain number of days a year here, which is not true of many other residency programs.
Having said all that, I agree with the premise of the post -- politicians will not save us! We must do whatever we can to insulate ourselves from the powers-that-shouldn't-be.
