Thanks Mike, I thought so too but kept seeing it written as Dia de Muertos in my searches — maybe dia de los muertos is a variation or an Americanized version? Not quite sure but if you google it from Mexico, it’s just Dia de Muertos.

Ok, I thoroughly enjoyed your travels in Mexico on Substack. My wife’s parents are from a small village outside of Guadalajara. And I grew up with the Mexican culture as a cook in Denny’s in San Ysidro in my younger days. They are the most humble, contrite people I’ve ever encountered and I’m Italian

That’s awesome! Thank you for sharing 😊. Have you heard of Chipilo? Venetian Italians settled there circa 1882 and it remains “little Italy” to this day! With a unique dialect. Going to visit soon, heard lots of great things about it.

Never heard of it Kate. I look forward to your essay on your visit Chipilo. BTW, my grandparents immigrated to America in late 30’s to escape Mussolini and Fascism. The first thing he told me when they arrived at Ellis island and saw the Statue of Liberty; God bless America, freedom at last!
